While I enjoy writing about anything and everything, I can honestly say I never thought that I would be writing about my approval of a family car,  considering I am not yet amongst the breeding-active demographic and own a coupe. However, I spent plenty of time with my brother and his little ones this past week on the road in their new 2010 XC60 and I was so impressed that I felt inspired to throw my two cents in. So if you can get past my preference for fast, compact vehicles, here is my take on my brother’s Chicago Volvo XC60.

I have been in Luxury SUV-genre vehicles before and feel that the XC60 is substantially ahead of the pack.  While I liked the the look and feel of the exterior I realize that is kind of an individual preference comment. So much like I do concerning the average looking girls who will actually date me, I will try to avoid discussion of looks and cost (by the way my brother spent about $45,000 – not bad for a big, safe ride) and focus on the inside, which in the XC60’s case is a great thing.

The Volvo XC60 had the most cabin space of any vehicle in its class that I have ever seen.  When your driving long distances with kids or for that matter in just about any situation you can imagine, it is a great feeling to have space.  I was literally able to stretch out flat while riding in the XC60, which to me is a great feeling.  Additionally the Volvo offered an incredible amount of cargo space for our belongings.  I am not sure where all this space came from but I will happily take it. Besides space the car had a great feel to it.  I kind of felt like I sank into the seat which is nice when you just want to relax.  My bro fired up the Lion King DVD ( its been too long since I have seen that flick) and I felt as though I was watching from the comfort of my couch.   The space, seat comfort, and cabin insulation from outside noise really made the ride comfortable and won me over.

For those looking to buy new Volvo in Chicago, the 2010 Chicago Volvo XC60 is on the lower side of costs in relation to its competitors and also is at the top in terms of safety features. All Volvos end up on top in safety, after all.  If your into the whole family luxury car thing give it a look.
