The new 2010 Jaguar S80

The new 2010 Volvo S80

The 2010 Volvo S80 is due to arrive your Volvo dealer in Chicago this fall, and I thought this would be a nice car to preview from what I’m hearing about its updates and improvements.

The redesigned S80 will have a lower, longer and wider stance, according to Volvo. Volvo has touted the interior space as being “more driver-oriented” with a new generation of steering wheel (still circular I’m guessing) and more-interesting instruments.

The 2010 S80 will take on bit of a sportier profile than the 2009 S80. The car has been lowered slightly to create a more stable chassis. The new model also ushers in shorter, firmer springs and an improved steering gear, giving more direct contact between the tires and the road.

This ability to hug the road and allow more dynamic driving is something enthusiasts will truly appreciate with the 2010 S80. Basically, it sounds like something I’m going to have to test drive at a Volvo dealer in Chicago this fall, you know, for my “work”.

I really like the broader-spaced "Volvo" letters.

I’ve always liked the smooth elegance of the Volvo design. Volvos are always stately, not flashy but noticeable and clearly superior.

The exterior of the car is simply sleek. The first thing you’ll notice is the more aggressive grill that features a larger Volvo badge and more chrome accents. Volvo has made this car smoother, both in handling and looks. The S80′s facelift, as most are calling it, is not a sweeping one, but it has added very smart design touches to an already design-forward auto. This video offers a lot of different view and gives you a great idea of what you would look like in a 2010 S80:
